Skookum Flats — Monday, Mar. 30, 2026

Ditto on trip report from the 27th. We only made it in about a mile before turning around from the TH from road 73. Gorgeous, snowy woods though! Lots of debris, one was particularly dangerous to try and get through as the trail is now dangerously close to the edge of a slide. We did run into volunteer ranger John (you probably know who I'm talking about :-) who was out doing a recon on trail conditions - and we got a short botany lesson, thanks, John! We had tried Federation Forest first from the north TH right off 410 (about .5ish before the locked gate) and that was completely impassable, as well as the parking lot having a lot of debris on it. Did report that to John who send he hopes to get a crew up there soon. Also ran into a gal back at the Skookum TH who had tried Palisades first and that was a mess and impassable about a mile in. Will take a lot of work to clear the 410 hikes from the big winter windstorms we had. THANKS IN ADVANCE TO TRAIL WORKERS EVERYWHERE - we sooooooo appreciate you!!
