Southwest Washington > Columbia River Gorge - WA
Flowers on the rocks

Many vehicles were at the TH when we arrived at noon. We began our meander of the loop trail by going clockwise. The day was in the high 50's, but very windy! The flowers on the rocks as you drop down to the crossing of the creek are spectacular right now! Many Gold Stars, Larkspur, Miner's lettuce, prairie stars, small-flowered Blue-eyed Mary, yellow desert parsley, filaree and death camas were seen. In smaller numbers were henbit, yellow monkey flowers and 5 yellow bells just beginning to bloom! We returned to the TH from the creek crossing which was intimidating to us old folks! We probably walked only 1/4 mile, but it took us a little over an hour enjoying and picturing the many flowers!
