There were no recent trip entries for this nice little walk so I will try to get some general info out on this. The Interpretive Center is just a short distance from Bayview State Park and Padilla Bay. The Center itself is open Wednesday -Saturday, so not open today. I've been inside before, great place for kids with info on the intertidal life and a hands on exbibit with sea life. We walked the trails above the center and had more fun than we were expecting. There is ongoing restoration going on with a natural woodland and wildflower meadows, we could see stakes and small trees but no wildflowers yet. There was Indian plum, red currant and OR grape in flower in the forest area. We followed all the trails we could find on the hill and then headed down toward the road for the observation viewpoint and beach access. The observation area is paved with a ramp, so ADA accessible. The stairs going to the beach are narrow spiral metal stairs, kids will love this, people with vertigo will not. Restrooms in the building may or may not be open if the center is closed, but there are 2 sanicans in the parking lot, clean and stocked today. Combine this with a trip to Padilla Bay for more mileage, which we did. Padilla Bay. We parked at the north parking lot and walked down the road to the trail start. It was very windy and blowing at us and it made it difficult to walk straight. We turned around at the 1.5 mile marker giving us 3 miles to add to our walk for a good step count. I tried out my new rain skirt, it worked great for this kind of hike but would not work so well on a narrow brushy trail, it would snag on branches.
