There are 4 toilets at the parking lot. Today, 2 were locked and 2 were in service. Got a pee cloth? Bring it with you.
Dogs are allowed at Rialto until Ellen Creek. We walked with our pup towards the reservation (away from Hole in the Wall), then we brought her back to the parking lot and she was in charge of the car while we hiked the rest of the way.
Ellen Creek is running strongly, and gets well past ankle height (which we determined by looking, not by wading). We chose to cross with help from driftwood logs. Sketchy but effective. A few chose to cross the creek and just deal with wet pants, socks, shoes.
Listen for eagles chittering. No Vallela vallela on this beach.

I plugged your image into a Google search and it came back as an anglerfish, probably a Pacific Monkfish. When I look at pictures of that fish it looks about right. That is a strange looking creature!

Thank you, Maddy! Now I can use that name to learn more. (On this trip, we also learned about all the Vellela vellela drying on the beaches, and we also saw a dead sea lion at Kalaloch.)
