Did skyline trail and oopsied to mazama ridge today. Used microspikes most of the way and switched to snowshoes once we started postholing - about the connection to the mazama ridge trail / 1pm when it got slushy. Glissading was the name of the game today and pretty much glissaded down from uphill of panorama point (7000’) to 6400’.
Snow was firm in the morning on all slopes and slushy on the south slopes after about 1pm. Some firm snow bridges to cross but also some collapsing snow bridges so be careful out there.
Recommend following GPS more closely and don’t just follow random snowshoe tracks which tacked on an extra 1.5 miles and 500’ of elevation over what was initially intended. Not complaining - it was a beautiful day and happy to spend the extra time out of doors.
One note: the bridge connection to mazama ridge over paradise river is unsafe and you need to cross at Ruby Falls.
