This falls to lake Loop hike offers lots of scenery, adventure, and views! Hiked counter-clockwise. WARNING: trail flooded and impassable along the DNR road about 4.5 miles from trailhead. It's actually a bit of trail leading from the DNR road to go around the last logging op. Looking at my Gaia map I see a marshy area (also on All Trails) and it's very pond like now. See blue line/X in Picture 1 and visual in #2. Easy to backtrack and take the DNR road to continue on to the lake, passing and ignoring the 'no hikers' sign. WOW great views of waterfalls from the ridge above.
Right before reaching the lake and the turn to either campground or lake shore, there's more water flowing down the trail a few inches deep, easy to use the border rocks to stay dry. Picture #3.
Falls are flowing impressively as is Wallace River. Once past the top waterfall only encountered about 10 people and a few pups. Lunched at the picnic table at the lake's outflow before descending on Greg Ball trail. Glorious moss covered everything. Took the Railroad Grade road back to start since we had never done so. Enjoyed logging history signage provided by an Eagle Scout. Super intersection signage all along our route today. Stats: 11.5 miles/1700' gain.
Flowers: Coltsfoot and Indian Pipe.
Parking: Arrived at 9:30, no problem snagging a spot in the main lot. Bathrooms stocked and clean, and WARM water!
Stopped in at Park store at end of hike and made a purchase and reported the 'water features" to the ranger.. Such a great State Park.

Was also there yesterday and saw so many off leash dogs, I wish the rangers would actually patrol the trails.

Yes, we saw that happening also. We ran into one ranger who was diligently working on 'flood control', and heard that another ranger was out on the trail checking trail conditions. They do have a need for volunteers, like William who maintains the store so the rangers can get to their tasks. Sure was a beautiful day in a beautiful State Park.
