A new to us hike on this beautiful Saturday. We parked at the parking area on 300th street. The blue gate is closed for logging, so we headed south on the trail across the street. You’ll enter a beautiful, mossy forest. We took the left at the junction and crossed a bridge. You’ll hear this creek throughout most of your hike. Salmonberry blooming, Indian plum and we found our first trillium of the season! Song birds and frogs croaking made for a wonderful soundtrack. We followed this trail out a logging road where there is a sign that says “Hazel Brook.” Maybe that’s the trail name or the name of brook? This area is clear cut and would have a great views of the mountains if they weren’t cloudy. We followed this road down to a trail on the left which followed the edge of the clear cut and then onto another road on the clear cut. We took road back to make a loop until we took another logging road before another gate. This road took us to Sandy’s Trail. Which is very muddy but back to the beautiful mossy forest. 3 mile loop in total. I’d highly recommend a map and have navigation/map reading skills. There were plenty of junctions that we could have taken to other places but since it was our first time here, we just wanted to check it out.
