Green River Natural Area — Tuesday, Mar. 3, 2026

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

Our group of 4 hikers enjoyed exploring this trail network in the lower gorge. The trails are in excellent shape, blowdowns from the winter season are all logged off. While there's a few muddy areas, none presents any difficulty. There's also a clean porta-potty at the end of the service road, about a mile from the TH.

King County Parks has done an excellent job with trail signage. Junctions are well-marked, lots of detailed information - see photo - and even QR codes that allow hikers to get a full trail map of the area. Well Done!

We enjoyed seeing signs of spring, as the osoberries are in full bloom. There's also good looks at recent beaver activity along Leta's Way. We took Potter's Trail to access the gravel bars along the river. We encountered only one other hiker on the trails this day, and enjoying hiking about 7 miles. THEM, Olympia.
