Iron Goat Trail — Sunday, Mar. 1, 2026

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West
Sediment from Flooding

One of our favorite spring hikes, especially because the upper trail has so much water for our pup! Sunday was absolutely gorgeous out on Highway 2.

The trail is generally in great shape, but you can definitely see the impact from the atmospheric rivers. The lower section has a ton of sediment; it’s wild to see how high the water must have reached. In some spots it honestly feels like walking along a riverbank. I hike this trail every year, and the changes were noticeable this time.

There are a few minor blowdowns, but nothing hard to get around. Plenty of water for pups, a few tiny snow patches up high, and no need for snowshoes or traction.

I know WTA has some work parties planned here this spring and summer — it’ll be great to see this one get some love.
