Fun sunset hike up to see the Mailbox and the views, with polarapfel. We made it up to the top just as the sun was beginning to show some color and the moon was out as well. You could even see the Space Needle. We stayed on top for about 30 minutes to take pictures, it was worth lugging up the cameras and lenses. I was glad to have an extra dry shirt because it was noticeably colder at the top. We needed headlamps for most of the hike down. We went down the old trail to save some time and it was a nice to work with gravity instead of against it :)
I definitely recommend microspikes and poles for the last part of the trail, including the last couple of hundred yards in the woods. One other sighting that wasn't as welcome, on the way up, were the mosquitoes that we saw when we stopped to catch our breath.
