Trip Report

Kalaloch - Browns Point — Sunday, Mar. 1, 2026

Olympic Peninsula > Pacific Coast

We arrived at the day use parking lot at the Kalaloch campground shortly before 1pm on this gorgeous Sunday afternoon. There aren't facilities at the lot, but the north loop campground facilities were open, clean and stocked, though the ladies sink was out of order. The stairs down to the beach are in a state of disrepair requiring a little thoughtful navigating or climbing, especially for those with shorter legs (see below). There are many similar access points to the beach from the campground area, though I did not take the time to check if any of those steps have better weathered recent erosion and storms. Kalaloch beach is as lovey as ever, with wide swaths of sand leaving plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the sun and surf. The infamous Tree of Life is still holding on by the roots, if a bit lower and more precariously than it had before. We wandered north for about a mile before returning the way we had come, enjoying a picnic overlooking the water before returning to our lodgings. Happy Hiking!
