Camano Island State Park, Cama Beach Historical State Park — Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026

Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area

We started off with a beach ramble at Camano Island State Park which was fortunate as the beach access at Cama Beach is closed right now. We enjoyed playing in one of the driftwood forts and finding interesting rocks and beach glass to play with. It was sunny but windy which was better than the rain and wind closer to home. I had planned a walk to Cranberry Lake on the way back to home but there was no parking at the closest access point so we flipped to a walk on the marine loop trail. Apparently there is a glass quest event where glass balls are hidden in the woods. We didn’t find any of the treasures but it was a helpful motivator for the kids. Even the possibility of a surprise find is great. My son got a card for being kind on the trail from the volunteer ranger and that was a great highlight of the day. Pastries from the Camano Commons also helped with positive vibes.
