Perfect bluebird day for snowshoeing at Hurricane Ridge. We headed out along Obstruction Point Road, starting at the road closed sign. Snow levels are low enough right now that the WTA alternate route isn’t necessary.
We took a break for coffee and snacks beneath Steeple Rock, then turned around for about four miles total. The snow was light and fluffy, though a few people were bare booting and clearly sinking in. Snowshoes were definitely the better call. With the low snow year, there are also stretches of bare pavement showing through.
After lunch at the car, we walked the Hurricane Hill road section. That stretch is so packed down from traffic that we were fine in regular boots. No traction needed, and snowshoes would’ve just been extra work.
