Trip Report

Lake Padden Park — Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026

Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area

The other two grandmas had been here before, but I hadn't so it was a new hike for me. I was surprised at how big the lake was, it looks about as big as Greenlake. We did the parameter trails to get mileage and a bit of climbing, but there is a nice flat graveled trail around the lake. The upper trails were thru the woods and really had no views, not even of the lake, which was disappointing, however the trails were in good shape and the woods was nice and green. I was hoping for some signs of skunk cabbage, but it must still be early even with the unseasonally warm weather. The restrooms are located by the playground parking lot, flush, clean and stocked.  The southern parameter is just above the freeway and there is a lot of noise, so skip that part if it bothers you.  We ate at the fishing dock on the west end of the lake. We got about 5 miles. My take, save this one for a cloudy wet day.
