Foothills Trail - Wilkeson to Carbonado by Crazy4Birds

I'm slowly chipping away at hiking the different sections of the Foothills Trail so I decided to take advantage of a gap in the rain to walk the standalone piece between Wilkenson and Carbonado. I parked at the fire station in Wilkenson and walked as far as the cemetery at Carbonado, about 6 miles RT.

The trail is generally in good shape with the exception of some muddy areas and one longer stretch where it takes a bit of maneuvering to keep your feet dry. I wandered around the cemetery for a bit before heading back to the car.

The trail was pretty quiet, and I only saw a trio of trail runners along with a few groups of dirt bikers, although the trail is signed for no motorized use. Just a note that there is no restroom at the parking area in Wilkenson that I'm aware of or along the trail, so plan accordingly. If you hike here "in season," you can enjoy a drink and a snack at the Simple Goodness Soda Shop, but sadly it's closed this time of year.

There's a good restroom in the parking lot next to the town hall at Church and Alder streets.
