The project to build a short ADA accessible loop trail off of the Centennial Trail near the Getchell Trailhead has started! Today's work party was a chainsaw logout to remove several large trees from the new trail, which is barely roughed in at this point. The crew I was on removed trees near the beginning of the new trail and the other crews spread out over the entire loop to get all of the trees out. Many of the trees we removed had been down for a while and some were submerged in the soil and needed to be dug out a bit, but most were easily cut and removed by the crew. We had a great day to cut wood with sunshine and temps in the 50's.
Note that there is currently no privy in the Getchell Trailhead parking area, where we met before walking to our job site for the day.
