Surprisingly for a gorgeous, sunny and not even cold Sunday afternoon, there were spots left in the small parking lot of Double Bluff County Park. There is overflow parking on the road, possibly of questionable legality. The park has a doggie free run that effectively extends to all of the beach. It is two miles from the trailhead westward to the "corner" as indicated in WTA's hiking guide. Tidelands also extend eastward for about 2000'.
On 1/25, low tide was at 3:23 pm with +1.3' sea level. That exposed lots of beach and tide pools with sea stars, sea anemones and many other invertebrates. Bird life was plentiful although typically a ways offshore. Bring binoculars. Dogs were invariably friendly.
Getting to the beach from the parking lot can be a bit of a challenge for rickety legs because of an accumulation of logs.

Oh so many memories--for 12 years I took my chocolate lab from Seattle to Whidbey each month to do either Double Bluff or Greenbank Farm. We would always go out to the end at the corner. Felt like such solitude by that point on the beach. Loved seeing kingfishers, eagles, and a few times otters.
