Ring Hill Forest — Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

I found this nice forest walk searching thru the hike finder app. on the wta website. It is also in the Urban Hikes Eastside guidebook. My friend had a gear malfunction with her poles, so I needed to pick an easy one. This hike actually turned out better than I thought it would as we drove thru Redmond suburbia. It is a forest walk with some gentle up and down and it was pretty quiet for a suburban park. The signage is good and the carved pictures under the signs add interest. The trails are in great shape with lots of little bridges over the mud. You can see some hints of mtns thru the trees but it's not a view hike by any stretch. Enjoy the variety of trees here, Doug fir, cedar, hemlock and even grand fir, plus the leafless bigleaf maples dripping with moss. The trail description said about 2.5 miles so we did a couple of loops twice to get about 3. There is no loo so stop somewhere along the way and take care of business. I'm old enough to remember when there was logging up here, my dad used to drive the roads looking for the choice little wild blackberries. Once we found an old still, I wonder if it's buried there under the ferns somewhere.
