Quick second walk of the morning around the Marymoor Park and wetland areas trails in the sunshine. Parking is very plentiful though there is a $1 charge (machines still take cash currently.) There are sanicans at several locations around the property and even one of the little “snack shack” operations was open in case you need a pick-me-up. The trails remain a mix of paved, gravel, grass and elevated boardwalk. There is some mud remaining from our recent flooding in a couple places and the boardwalk was a touch slippery in the shaded frosty areas but nothing terrible or blocking with the exception of one area blocked off due to the set up of the next Cirque du Soleil show on the north side of the property. Also, there is now direct access from the new light rail station - just a 5 minute walk away.
Wildlife was a bit scarce this morning but there were a few types of ducks on the Sammamish slough, one redtail hawk and a couple heron over in the wetland audubon bird loop area. Views include down the valley to Rainier in the distance and across Lake Sammamish to Tiger Mt. etc. Some areas can get busy - dog park, childrens play areas and athletic fields on the north end but many other areas, generally the edges of the park can be pretty secluded. Don’t miss the remaining historical buildings, (Clise Mansion, windmill, willowmoor weir, etc) as well.
