Trip Report

Seward Park — Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

We got to Seward around 9:30 this morning and the lots next to the water were definitely filled/filling up (unsurprising; it was a beautiful day!).

We had both a dog and a baby with the hiking crew today, and we wandered aimlessly for only a couple of hours in the middle of the park on the dirt trails, and maybe around half of the outer loop. The trails are quite easy to follow on a map like Gaia or Caltopo.

Even though there were many cars, we still got some solitude in the middle of the park. And the pup we had can get pretty excited about other dogs (not aggressive, just very happy/barky if other dogs get very close), and every other dog we saw was on leash, which was really great!

The trails are in good shape; some of the dirt trails are a little muddy in the middle of the park, but I wore my trail runners and they weren't even muddy when we got back to the car.

There were a couple of port-a-potties around the park, which was nice. I used one and it didn't smell (I wonder if the brisk weather helped with that).

More cars were in the lots when we returned around 11:30. It was a lovely day!
