Camano Island State Park — Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025

Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area
Yew tree and fungi

After our time at the East and West 90, we drove to Camano Island SP where we had about 2 hours of no rain, fog and some sun! We walked the Al Emerson Nature Trail after having snacks at the beach. There are 18 numbered interpretive signs along the way describing the various plants with words and pictures. Today, as usual when we have been there, there were no pamphlets available in the box at the TH.  Mr. Emerson was the first Ranger of Camano Island SP and from 1963 and 1973 when he retired he nearly single-handedly shaped his footprints in building this trail. The trail was in good condition with no mud and several varieties of fungi. Many of the 18 informative signs are faded and one completely missing!

Muledeer on Camano Island State Park

That was my planned hike for next week, so how was the road thru Stanwood? Was it closed from the floods?

Bob and Barb on Camano Island State Park

The road was fine and the only sign of flooding was the flooded fields.
