Trip Report

Mount Muller — Friday, Nov. 28, 2025

Olympic Peninsula > Northern Coast
Oxalis (wood sorrel) in the lowland forest

We started at the Olympic Discovery Trail parking area across from the Sol Duc Hot Springs Road. We followed the paved Olympic Discovery Trail west, about a mile, until we saw the sign for the Mt Muller Trail on the right. The trail took us through the lowland forest to the Mt Muller Trailhead by Littleton Creek. A few patches of Oxalis (wood sorrel) along the forest floor were starting to turn yellow.

We hiked the entire loop clockwise. The trail was completely snow free. Wind coming from the north side of the ridge was quite strong and chilling. Our total mileage was 13-14 miles, about 3000 ft elevation gain. No wildlife sightings or flowers.

Walking through Jasmine Meadow, before reaching the summit (west of the summit), we found a coat. Appears a person stopped to enjoy the view, but left the coat behind. We never saw anyone, so we took the coat. So, if you forgot your coat west of the high point on the Mt. Muller trail, please contact us with the color and brand name and we will be happy to connect with you or mail the coat. trailtravelers@gmail.com
