Today’s morning was gorgeous beyond any measure, so it would be a crime to miss out on a hike opportunity, even if short.
Short unpaved stretch of the road to the trailhead is easy to navigate and just a bit rough. About 5 cars were in the lot at 10.30 am, with plenty of space available. There’s no privy at the trailhead.
The trail is an easy leg stretcher with great views of the peaks surrounding Snoqualmie Pass, which are now lined with snow about a quarter down from their tops. A major obstacle is abundance of water on the trail; many times it is hiking in a stream. There is one tricky stream crossing requiring rock hopping; fording the stream would be tough due to depth. For the same reason, I was never able to approach Lodge Lake: the offshoot trail leading to it became completely submerged soon after the junction with PCT.
All in all a nice day out and a pretty quick hike with few people and some mountain views. Just make sure to bring waterproof gear and spare shoes - even my proven waterproof boots eventually gave up.
