Trip Report

Stegosaurus Butte — Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
Garfield Mountain from the 1st viewpoint

I love this hike. It's short but challenging. It's only three miles round trip, but most of the elevation happens in half a mile - a pretty steep forest scramble. The views at the top are amazing.

There's a fairly muddy part with water on the trail right after the turn off of the Pratt River Trail. It's slick, but doesn't last very long, and that's the only real mud on the trail right now. Waterproof shoes and poles were helpful.

There are a few blowdowns right now, but most of them are overhead, so not too hard to get past. There was one place today where I lost the trail briefly due to some downfall and used a downloaded GPS trail map to get back on track.

As usual, there were almost no people on the Stegosaurus trail. I only encountered two people today and their dog. (I often see people up here with mid to large size dogs, so although the hike is steep, furry friends can make it.)

Lots of lush green on the lower part of the trail
