We hiked on a cloudy cool day that made the fall foliage pop. We saw 7 other hikers on the trail within the first 10 minutes, then only 2 other people for the next 3 hours. The trail is mostly easy to find. We had fun trying out the suspension bridge and the foot bridge across the river when we passed them, even if we didn’t need to to stay on the trail. The meadow shows recent work with heavy equipment, obscuring the trail a bit – at the far end, look for some faint blue flagging to show where the trail leaves the meadow to climb up. The areas that burned in last year’s fire are a bit eerie against the fall foliage in the understory. Someone has put up a brand new tree swing it the large oak tree in the meadow. Beautiful hike. It was active hunting season, so we wore bright red, yellow and even some teal.
