Pretty drive today. There was one car in the lot when we arrived around 1:00 and we saw a pair of trail runners in the second half of the hike. Vault toilet at the TH, road good for any car.
The trail is in great shape. We went CCW and enjoyed the views, despite some clouds and smoke. There are a couple of trees down that aren’t hard to get over.
Plenty of golden larch. A little past prime but still nice.
There is a prescribed burn on the north side of Blewett Pass, as you drive towards Hiway 2. It’s a little alarming to see patches of smoke and flames as you drive by. The approach to Wenatchee was super smoky. Might be a bad idea to come this way if you’re sensitive.
Happy Halloween!

Thanks for the air quality info! That is super helpful for someone who can't handle even a little bit of smoke right now.

The weekend rain did a good job tamping down the smoke. When we passed through the Wenatchee Valley to go home on Sunday, the air was crisp and clean. It’s amazing how fast conditions can change

Do you know why there was a prescribed burn? In mid-October we drove over Blewett Pass on our way home from our trip in eastern Washington and there were a few areas still burning from the Labor Mountain fire and there were fire fighters and vehicles still working in the burn area, but it wasn't very smokey! It was sad to see the devastation from the fire!

We saw signs indicating prescribed burn but it was kind of wild that we didn’t see a single person or fire truck tending to the burn.
