Narada Falls to Reflection Lakes — Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025

Mount Rainier Area > SW - Longmire/Paradise
Icy path in front of the falls

We waited for a sunny day to check out this trail but didn't realize it would be snowy already. Hopefully this report helps out the next person who sees a high of 54 in the forecast and makes assumptions! The first tenth of a mile from the parking lot to the falls was the worst, steep and mostly a sheet of ice from the spray of the waterfall. There's a big handrail to cling on to, though. The rest of the trail was muddy in a few places, but mostly snowy- from slush to 12+ inches deep. Between the falls and where the trail crosses the road was through pretty forest with good views of the mountains. It was quiet and peaceful. We saw lots of thimbleberry and salmon/raspberry plants, so in summer there's probably excellent foraging along the trail. On the other side of the road, toward the lakes, the trail had obviously seen much less traffic. There was 10" to 12" of snow and we walked in the deep footprints of those who had gone before (not pictured, because I was struggling). It was challenging and we ended up turning around before getting to the second Reflection Lake. But the view of the top of the mountain across the first lake was incredible, well worth the trouble.

What a view
