The trail is shady and there are many shades of lovely green on the trail. The path is pleasantly soft underfoot most of the way with fallen pine needles. The final 0.6 mile to the viewpoint is the only section with step-ups over roots or rocks, the rest is just a steady uphill walk. The view of Seattle in the distance had a magical Oz like quality in the morning mist.
We arrived at 8:15 on a Tuesday and the parking lot was half full. We saw a few trail runners already coming down as we started the first mile, but the trail was very quiet. The privy was well-stocked, and the carved bench at the summit was a delightful place to have a snack and enjoy the view.
