Front side of the mtn zero snow on the trail. Once you summit and begin to descend, you’ll encounter snow patches and a little ice. The ice was a non-issue really, provided people weren’t full out running in those sections. I brought Microspikes but wasn’t even tempted to use them. I went about half way to Gen Lake and trail was in good shape and the colors are beautiful. Few pika out, and looking well fed. Heard there was a bear just about 5 minutes past the log bridge going toward Gem, but I didn’t see or hear him/her. Snow and rain headed our way this weekend, so who knows that it’ll look like in a few days
