We went this way to cutthroat pass to avoid the parking challenges and we were very happy with our choice!
It’s a long hike (we clocked 12 miles) with 2300 feet of elevation gain so definitely a challenge but we loved it.
The trail has a mellow grade that never gets extremely steep and doesn’t have huge rock steps - really comfortable trail. Great views starting about halfway from the lake to the pass on up to keep things interesting.
Delicious blueberries and many of them and their leaves are gorgeous red
Larches are beautiful- not quite peak but getting very close. Gorgeous day!
