It was a very hazy day and you could smell the smoke. From the top looking down up the Skykomish Valley the mountains appeared as silhouettes, the ones nearest were darker and had more form and the receding ones lighter and no detail. But it is always a great hike through the forest and rock formations.
We went to the viewpoint and then went up along the powerline clearing to the have lunch at the overlook of the Skykomish River Valley and falls and a more prominent view of Baring Mountain's bunny ears.
The trail is in good condition and trailhead parking for about twenty vehicles but an expanded lot is planned along with improvements to the Erinswood Trail. The porta-potty in the parking lot has been removed but there restrooms in Index at Doolittle Pioneer Park along with some interesting artifacts history.
