Incredible evening at Bruni's Snow Bowl last night. Full moon, fog and fall foliage made for a spectacular 24 hrs.
RESERVATIONS: Get reservations at Mt. Tahoma Trails Association for $15 per person per night. Dogs cannot come in the huts. WEEKENDS ARE VERY LIMITED.
DRIVE: Head to Ashford and turn at the Baptist Church just prior to town. Drive an additional 6 miles on forest service road.
PASS: Discover Pass until November 1st then you'll need non-motorized Sno-Park pass.
TRAIL: Walk to the road 1 1/2 miles and turn left at the Y. Head another 1 1/2 for about 1400' elevation gain total from the upper parking lot. The road is easy to follow.
SCENERY: The gazebo, dedicated to Judy, is well kept and a peaceful serene area. You can view Mt. St Helens, Mt. Adams and Rainier. The fall colors are spectacular right now.
HUT: The hut is more like a deluxe cabin. It is well stocked and there is available water. The hut runs on solar and the lights went out about 45 minutes into the evening but here were plenty of lanterns. A headlamp is helpful for night time bathroom runs.
Total mileage 6.5 elevation gain 1400'
