Decided to hike to the middle viewpoint - still a good hike, nearly 4.5 miles RT, but avoiding the steep ascent to the upper falls (you could see the entire falls from where we stopped). At this low water level, the falls are simply gorgeous. Not too much fall color yet, but the vine maples were turning and made it a nice contrast to all the green. The parking lot was not full at all at 9:15 AM, and the dogs we encountered were all very well-behaved. Note that there is no water for dogs on the trail right now, though there is a dog fountain at the parking lot.
