Rattlesnake Mountain - Grand Prospect — Friday, Oct. 3, 2025

Looking for a close in hike today. Parking lot easy to get to, right off I 90, bathroom at trailhead. Remember your Discover Pass. Just a handful of cars at 9 am, mostly mountain bikers. Trail starts climbing, crossing a gravel road several times and the power line meadows before Stan’s overlook. My watch had 2.3 miles to Stan’s overlook and 4.5 to Grand prospect viewpoint. Grand prospect viewpoint was over a mile from the new bridge over Owen’s creek. The fall colors are just starting but still mostly green. Lots of cool fungi, some banana slugs, Douglas squirrels and cute chipmunk's were seen. Parking lot was mostly full when we returned. (Mostly bikers) We only saw 10 other hikers/trail runners.
