Granite Mountain — Friday, Sep. 26, 2025

Been away from this trail for a few years and chose the almost perfect day - given you are above treeline for last ~ 1.5 mi, it was sunny at the beginning to becoming gradually cloudy , all while keeping temps in early 60's. Gentle breeze help cool off to the point I had to layer up for the lunch stop at the Fire lookout.

The berries were a welcome surprise, did not expect them to still last. No water source after the 1 mi point so carry your own for all the trip and back. I barely made it back with the water i took inspite of the mild temperature so take extra for when sun is out.
