Roads to the trailhead are in good condition.
Hike was hard, it was hot, really good, very different types of environments along the whole way.
Amazing hike and gorgeous lake, larches are turning golden.
Camped at the lake, there's about 4 campsites for two person tents.
Saw a man nailing a two ft metal cross (it read: LC , 1939 -24) to a tree next to Libby Lake, which in the Chelan Sawtooth Wilderness. I asked him to please not to do that, I told him that it is in wilderness and is against the law. He said he didn't care and that he has to do it. I told him he can't pick and choose what laws to follow. He was opening carrying. He was not a good person. I told him about LEAVE NO TRACE, but he didn't care. I asked him to respect the outdoors and leave it for everyone, not to make it into a junk yard.
I have reported this to the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. I provided a lot of information, images and video.
If you want to remove the cross, you need a tool (grinder etc) to take off the heads of the two nails, you will need to climb on the back of someone, while you remove the nail heads. The tree is to the left of the trail's top, near the large rocks, left of the old water dam.
Update:
I removed the photo of the man and truck.
Spoke with USFS, provided a statement and they're looking to fine them. The USFS ranger said they have to remove these a lot.
