Mukilteo Lighthouse Park — Friday, Sep. 26, 2025

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area
sea lion

Quick walk around the Mukilteo LIghthouse park, beach and connected trails running north along the water to Edgewater Beach park at the base of Japanese Gulch.  Parking at the main lot is very plentiful though it is a pay lot.  Edgewater Beach has a smaller free lot.  Restrooms were open and in good condition.  The main park trails consist of urban paved sidewalks and beach walk.  The waterfront trail continues north past Ivars, the old ferry dock location and tank farm and consist of additional paved, some gravel and significantly more beach.  No specific trail issues other than the northern addition requires walking through the new elevated ferry terminal and the beach walks are better and longer with a low tide.  Wildlife today included herons, cormorants, gulls, one kingfisher, some salmon jumping, some jellyfish and one big sea lion swimming north up the beach.  Views both west out over the water and north up the bay are quite good.  Folks can add further distance by connecting to the western most trailhead of the Japanese Gulch trail system just a block away.  A nice easy walk if you are in the area.
