Friday morning hike on a beautiful sunny day in the PNW. Plenty of parking available at 10:30am. The trail was in great shape and didn't feel overcrowded, though I was certainly not alone. The first half the trail is through a previously logged area, the second half is prettier, in greener forest with more vegetation to feast the eyes. A few peekaboo views on the way up, but mostly in the forest. Once you get to the ledge the views are great looking east towards Seattle's source of drinking water - Chester Morse Lake - and the protected lands surrounding it. I didn't go to the middle and upper ledge, but might be a better option for more solitude. It was about 50 minutes to the ledge and 45 minutes back.
Stop by Seattle Public Utilities' interpretive center after the hike. A great relief map of the area and information about the area. The staff there are awesome!
