Plummer Peak, Pinnacle Saddle — Thursday, Sep. 18, 2025

Mount Rainier Area > SW - Longmire/Paradise
the summit

A spectacular, relatively easy hike & scramble with terrific views in every direction!  I've included 5min of video highlights below:

Road & Trail: no issues.  Plenty of parking at Reflection Lakes for this trail.

Wildlife: deer, pikas, marmots, a mountain goat, ground squirrels and hawks

Plants: ancient forest of mtn hemlocks, silver firs, yellow cedar and sub-alpine firs.  Fall colors just barely starting..

Crowds: only 3 others briefly on the peak; about a dozen other on the trail.  Greatly enjoyed watching a couple of climbers summit nearby Lane Peak!

Smoke: In the distance, white Pass and the entire Olympics were covered in smoke.  But Rainier, Paradise and the entire Tatoosh Ridge we were on remained free of smoke all day.
