Sheep Lake, Sheep Lake to Sourdough Gap — Saturday, Jun. 28, 2025

Hello guys, I drew a Mountain Goat tag for little Naches in 2025. There were no resources available really to tell where goats were, so hopefully this can help someone out in the future. The unit runs east of the PCT. One of the first hikes I did scouting for goats started at the chinook pass trailhead for the PCT. I took the trail from there up to Sourdough Gap, past sheep lake. I did see one goat above the lake on a hillside, I will attach pictures. However he was on the wrong side of the PCT to be in the goat unit, but still a good chance of goats being there.I completed this hike on 6/28, there were still some snow fields to cross that time of year, nothing too extreme though. I then continued north after the gap to  Bear Gap trail, where I went down and met my ride. The total mileage of the day was 6.75 miles through to the Morse Creek trailhead.
