The drive in on FS-73 has potholes up until Huckleberry Creek. There’s a small landslide on the road, but it was easy to drive over in a Subaru.
Great hiking temp- 45F when I started at 9:30. Hiked to the viewpoint overlooking the west fork White River.
Grand Park is bone dry, almost no flowers or huckleberries left.
Found some lions mane mushrooms near Lake Eleanor. No porcini or chanterelles spotted.
Saw mountain bluebirds in Grand Park, and a single elk down by Lake Eleanor.
Told a bunch of young folks wearing name tags to please not walk off trail in Grand Park. They were the only people I saw up there.

Beautiful pics. Looks very clear. The weather service was threatening smoke. Hmmm, now I have to rethink my hike for this week. (and some day I'll get there when GP is not bone dry, but apparently not this year--it has a neat African savannah feel to it when it's arid and tan. I keep expecting to see herds of wildebeest crossing, but no luck.)
