Managed to snag walk up permits to camp at Sahale glacier, what an incredible experience. Started at 5am on Labor Day, made it to Sahale glacier camp at 10am, including stops for breakfast, photos, etc. Trail is mostly pretty chill but the last 1000 ft of gain is pretty brutal, especially with an overnight pack. There was some haze from wildfire smoke but not too bad as of Monday 9/1 . Sunset and sunrise were unbelievable. We saw goats, marmots, pikas, ptarmigans, and even a mama black bear and her cub. Lots of blueberries on the trail past Cascade pass. Not much flowing water on the trail but plenty of flowing water coming off Sahale glacier at the top. Absolute magic overall
