Lovely hike. An owl flew down across the trail about 15 mins into the hike and sat on a tree next to the trail. On my way down I was startled by a bear which quickly moved off the trail into the brush just to the side of the trail. Being on my own I was a bit more nervous about a bear nearby so I talked a bit to let it know where I was and then walked slowly past where it had run into the brush. Then I moved quickly down the trail. I had heard there had been bear sightings in the area and I can confirm that is the case. In general they keep to themselves but definitely be alert to the possibility of bears in the area and you don't want to sneak up on a bear so maybe make some noise as a solo hike so they know where you are and can get away. No view at Debbie's View due to the smokey haze.
