Got to the parking lot around 2pm on Labor Day. Sun was fighting to cut through the clouds. The lot was full but not insane. The bathroom had plenty of TP.
It's dusty on the trails after this dry summer. Most of the stream crossing are just trickles. Roots and rocks on the very early part. Then you start to see all of the stairs built by WTA which are great!
Many groups (some 5+) heading down and out as we made our way in.
My knee only let me go so far. The lake photos and info are from my family, the onsite feet and eyes from here on out. They heard Pika's in the rocky section. The lake was low but pretty. They saw a Barred Owl on the way down. He was right above the trail with his head turning to track them as they went underneath.
Hints of fall in blueberry bushes starting to turn red, along with vine maples.
7.5 miles for them! 4 for me.
