Strawberry Mountain — Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025

South Cascades > Mount St. Helens
Four large deadfalls across #220

First, getting there. Both 25 & 26 have bridge reconstruction, but detour works. From Randle 131, left at Y-junction to 23, then right on 28, then right on 76 (pass Cispus Learning Center) 7 miles, then left on to 25, then right on 99 to Bear Meadows Viewpoint (plenty of parking and restroom). Trail starts across the road as Boundary #1 for 1/2 mile, then become Strawberry #220 (sign on tree) to lookout site. Four large deadfalls to negotiate on #220. Spectacular views. Nice little hike with great views. Blueberries are ripe, so fresh bear scat. Some native red orchids along the trail. We then drove on 99 to multiple viewpoints and turned at Windy Ridge.  Stairs there go to the top of Windy Ridge, a nice little addition.  WTA trail description is accurate.
