Can't believe we hadn't done this hike before. It was so scenic, lush and beautiful. The road in certainly has some rough potholes but on the whole it wasn't too bad. There were a lot of cars on the road up and parked up at the top but luckily, because there are so many trailheads up at the top, our individual trail wasn't too crowded.
The trail itself was shaded and cool with lots of interesting plants. One previous reviewer mentioned that it was almost like the trail was landscaped. We had that feeling as well. We ended up going to Cottonwood lake first and then doubling back to hit Mirror lake. Both Cottonwood lake and Mirror lake were very calm and pretty but the real gem we found was behind Mirror lake (about a 1/4 of the way around clockwise from where you first come upon the lake). If you follow the outlet creek you get a magnificent view with the creek running down beside you and tons of the best huckleberries. We spent a good long while there just taking it in.
Everyone on the trail was friendly and had good hiking etiquette. Good job everyone!
