We hiked the loop clockwise, and even though it's a slow slog up, up, up to the ridgeline, we preferred the up to the seemingly endless down. The trail is well-maintained, better on the up/ridgeline than down, during which you'll encounter several slidey gravel sections and some boogery pitch to go along with them. The WTA narrative and the trail marker list the summit at 3748', and our GPS at 3728', their mileage at 12.7, ours at 12.88. Potato-potahto. There were some lovely aspects to this hike such as grand views of Lake Crescent and Mt. Olympus and delicious trailside berry snacks. We encountered only one other hiker until we reached the ODT. I'm not sorry we did it, but I have no desire to do it again.
