Hoh River Trail to Five Mile Island — Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025

Easy overnight trip with my son to Happy Four camping area. There are a bunch of campsites along the river. Probably the best one is at the downriver end, kind of on the gravel bar, but under a grove of trees. Going up river, there are about six or seven spots, plus a few more in the trees. The gravel bar is wide, so we cooked dinner alongside the river. Hike was easy and for the most part flat.
