Camped at White River campground. Headed out around 8am, not too crowded. A bit steep and and scree-y after the river crossing to the get up to the ridge. The end of the maintained trail is marked clearly with a sign. Up on the ridge there are great views of a beautiful lake and of course the morraine.
We wanted to climb down to the glacier. We backtracked a bit on the maintained trail and found a section to scramble down. You cross a rocky section, where there are some cairns to mark the way, though we eventually lost sight of them. Then had to bushwack through a lot of alders (saw quite a bit of bear poop), crossed a beaver pond, and eventually made it to the White River, which we followed to the glacier. Very cool to be at the mouth of the glacier with the river rushing out. There were rocks constantly falling down so be very careful and don't linger too close.
Did not want to bushwack through the alders again to go back. Closer to the glacier it's more rocky with less trees. So we walked on this section back to the cliff side (we did see some cairns here, possibly this is also the better route to go down as well), then scrambled up along the cliff (lots of loose rock) when we found a spot with some bigger rocks and trees to act as anchors. Tough work but easier than bushwacking through the alders. Popped up on the ridge a couple feet past the maintained trail, easy to find the maintained trail again as we just walked back along the ridge line.
