Excellent! Road is packed gravel for about a mile, but very smooth with few potholes. Lots of parking in the afternoon. One outhouse in the parking lot which is more or less as expected.
The first third of the trail or so is covered in new gravel with recently rebuilt stairs--looking great! However, about halfway to the lake, the trail becomes steep, with large rocks, many roots, and a few very light scrambles. Traction is good, as the trail is mostly damp and not dusty, and rocks are large and rough. A tree is fallen across the trail.
There were lots of ripe huckleberries today, plus a few salmonberries and thimbleberries hanging on as well. The lake is beautiful. The path around the back of the lake is very overgrown, and there are a couple of forks--keep turning toward the lake.
